Zhao Chunling, Chief Engineer of the C929 wide-body passenger aircraft, has been appointed as a visiting professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Electronics and Information(SEI)

In order to deepen the implementation of the talent-driven university strategy in the new era, widely attract experts, scholars, and distinguished figures from home and abroad to participate in the university's development, enhance the quality of chief engineer-type talent cultivation, and accelerate the pace of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, the School of Electronics and Information (SEI) held an appointment ceremony for Zhao Chunling as Visiting Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, along with a Face-to-Face Exchange Meeting on December 4th at the Chang'an Campus. Zhao Chunling, Chief Engineer of the C929 wide-body aircraft at the COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute and an alumna of SEI, Vice President Zhang Fuli, Lin Nan, Deputy Director of the Department of Party Committee's Faculty Affairs and Human Resources, Party Secretary Hou Jun, Dean Zhang Xunying, Deputy Party Secretary Gao Min, and Vice Deans Yao Ruguai and Gao Yongsheng from SEI, members of the C929 project team; and faculty and student representatives attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Hou Jun.

On behalf of the school, Hou Jun extended a warm welcome to Zhao Chunling and expressed sincere gratitude for her longstanding attention and support to SEI. Subsequently, representatives of young faculty members focused on the team's core research areas, reported on current work progress, and engaged in face-to-face discussions with Zhao Chunling. The atmosphere was lively throughout the meeting.

At the appointment ceremony, Zhang Fuli presented Zhao Chunling with the letter of appointment as visiting professor, while Zhang Xunying presented with the letter of appointment as doctoral supervisor.

Zhao Chunling expressed her gratitude, stating that as an alumna of the university, she feels deeply honored to be appointed as a visiting professor and doctoral supervisor at her alma mater, while also recognizing the significant responsibility this entails. She pledged to diligently fulfill her duties. On one hand, she will actively establish collaborative platforms to fully integrate the university's research achievements with the demands of model development, laying a solid foundation for mutual advancement. On the other hand, she will enhance the quality of talent cultivation by leveraging her frontline practical experience to guide students, encouraging them to integrate theoretical knowledge with the needs of major national projects. She expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in her by the university and the school, pledging to continue contributing her wisdom and strength to the university's scientific advancement and educational endeavors.

At the end of the ceremony, Zhang Fuli once again thanked Zhao Chunling for her deep affection and strong support toward her alma mater. He expressed hope that she would leverage her strengths to integrate cutting-edge research concepts and extensive engineering experience into talent development, thereby helping the university cultivate more outstanding innovators in the information field who possess both theoretical depth and practical capabilities. He looked forward to both parties advancing hand in hand to drive the implementation of their collaboration, and eagerly anticipated the early takeoff of the C929 wide-body aircraft!

The successful completion of this appointment ceremony represents a significant step by SEI in implementing its strategy of talent-driven university and deepening industry-academia-research collaborative innovation. Building on this appointment, SEI will continue to attract leading industry talents, strengthen the strategic orientation of scientific research and talent cultivation, and promote deeper alignment between teaching, research, and the demands of major national projects. This will inject stronger momentum into the university's Double First-Class initiative.
